This just exemplifies trail runs to me. If you haven’t done one - please find a place to do it - don’t wear the gamin, don’t worry about the time - be a child again. Explore, run as fast as you can, run as slow as you want - jump onto rocks, slide down banks - just live. Show yourself what running can really bring - that primal happiness that can only be found in nature.
That looks so fun..
You’ll need coffee shops and sunsets and road trips. Airplanes and passports and new songs and old songs, but people more than anything else. You will need other people and you will need to be that other person to someone else, a living breathing screaming invitation to believe better things.
It is in vain to dream of a wildness
distant from ourselves. There is none such.
It is the bog in our brains and bowels, the
primitive vigor of Nature in us, that inspires
that dream. I shall never find in the wilds of
Labrador any greater wildness than in some recess
of Concord, i.e. than I import into it.
